Unlikely Final Four isn’t the worst (by win percentage)

Mar 27, 2011, 9:09 PM EDT

This year’s Final Four may be the least-chalkiest according to seeds, but that doesn’t mean the four teams involved — UConn, Kentucky, Butler and VCU — have the worst combined records.
That mark still belongs to 2000 when Michigan State, Florida, North Carolina and Wisconsin made the final weekend.
Per AP, the lowest overall winning percentage entering the Final Four, since the NCAA tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985:

I also keep a table of the best percentages. When all four No. 1 seed made the Final Four in 2008, the combined records for Kansas, Memphis, UCLA and North Carolina were 143-9 (94.1 percent). That’s the best since 1965, just ahead of the 1970 group (UCLA, Jacksonville, New Mexico State and St. Bonaventure) that was 103-7 (93.6 percent).
